Florida Gas Transmission Company (FGT) has requested authorization from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct/modify, own, maintain, and operate natural gas mainline facilities and appurtenances in Santa Rosa County, Florida, USA, and modify an existing delivery point, in Escambia County, Alabama, USA.

If approved, the South Alabama Project will enable FGT to provide additional capacity for delivery to existing delivery points for PowerSouth Energy Cooperative and Ascend Performance Materials Inc. in Escambia County, Alabama, near the Florida/Alabama border.

FGT proposes to modify the following facilities within the existing boundaries of the facility sites:

Compressor Station 12, Santa Rosa County, Florida – Replace an existing 20,500 hp (15,293 kW) Solar Titan 130 turbine on unit 1209 with a 23,500 hp (17,531 kW) Solar Titan 130 gas turbine. The station is an existing facility with nine compressor units. Units 1201 through 1206 share a compressor building. Units 1207 through 1209 are each located in their own individual compressor buildings.

AEC Delivery Point, Escambia County, Alabama – Install an inlet filter separator and a new 8-in. (203-mm) turbine meter tube assembly between the existing station bypass valves and replace the existing electronic flow measurement unit, the spare meter module, and modify the existing conduit and cable tray to accommodate both meter runs.
