Saipem has secured an offshore engineering contract from QatarEnergy to support further development at the North Field Gas Project. The contract spans about five years and covers the design, sourcing, construction, and offshore installation of two gas compression facilities. The work is intended to sustain and increase output at the North Field, the world’s largest non-associated natural gas reserve, located offshore northeastern Qatar.
The North Field Gas Project is QatarEnergy’s massive, multi-phase expansion of the world’s largest non-associated natural gas field, aiming to significantly boost liquefied natural gas (LNG) production from 77 MPTA to 142 MTPA by 2030 through the North Field East (NFE), South, and West projects, involving huge offshore and onshore infrastructure, new LNG trains, and global partnerships to supply energy demand, with production from NFE starting mid-2026.
