DT Midstream has announced the mechanical completion of its Phase 2 Louisiana Energy Access Pipeline (LEAP) expansion. The 400 MMcf/d (11.3 x 106 m3/d) expansion is expected to be available for firm service on January 1, 2024. The Phase 2 expansion follows the successful Phase 1 expansion that was completed in August 2023, and will increase the overall capacity of LEAP to 1.7 Bcf/d (48.1 x 106 m3/d).
LEAP has a current gathering capacity of 1.3 Bcf/d per day with receipt interconnects with the Blue Union Gathering System and delivery interconnects at the Gillis Hub.
LEAP is a 155-mile (249-km) high-pressure lateral pipeline stretching from the Haynesville shale area in northern Louisiana to the Gulf Coast region. These domestic industrial and international liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets are expected to grow by over 11 Bcf/d (311.4 x 106 m3/d) by 2033. Customers on LEAP have access to multiple existing or under construction LNG terminals including Sabine Pass, Cameron, Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines, and Golden Pass via interconnects with Creole Trail, Cameron Interstate Pipeline, Gillis Access, Texas Eastern, and Transco.
Headquartered in Detroit with offices in Houston and Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, DT Midstream owns, operates, and develops natural gas midstream interstate and intrastate pipelines; storage and gathering systems; and compression, treatment, and surface facilities.
