NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL), an affiliate of TC Energy, has received Canada Energy Regulator (CER) approval for its Berland River Compressor Station (CS) C3 Unit Addition project.
The project, located within the Province of Alberta, will provide additional capacity to meet the incremental design flow requirements from the West of Saddle Area, which is part of the greater Peace River Project Area, to replace declining production elsewhere on the NGTL System and meet growing delivery requirements.
The project includes the construction and operation the Berland River CS and the addition of a 20-mile (33-km) natural gas pipeline, associated valve sites, an in-line inspection facility, and tie-ins to existing NGTL pipelines and the existing NGTL Saddle Hills CS. These additions will enable bi-directional flow between the northern and southern units within the Saddle Hills CS.
Work at the Berland River CS includes the installation of a new 30 MW electric motor-driven compressor package with a compressor building, auxiliary buildings with auxiliary equipment, aerial coolers, yard piping, and valves.
