Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc. (B&W) has acquired Universal Acoustic & Emission Technologies Inc. (Universal AET), a Wisconsin-based provider of custom-engineered acoustic, emission, and filtration solutions.
Universal AET is a bolt-on acquisition for B&W MEGTEC and will be included in B&W’s Industrial operating segment. The new company will be named Babcock & Wilcox Universal and operate under the trade name B&W Universal.
B&W MEGTEC is a global supplier of environmental control technologies and engineered products tailored to meet customers’ manufacturing process requirements. The company’s key technologies include oxidizers, fabric filters, wet and dry electrostatic precipitators, solvent recovery systems, scrubbers, selective catalytic and selective non-catalytic reduction (SCR/SNCR) products, and distillation equipment.
Universal AET solutions target mid-stream natural gas pipeline, natural gas power generation, general industrial, and other end-markets. Universal AET employs approximately 460 people, mainly in the U.S. and Mexico. Universal AET’s product offering includes gas turbine inlet and exhaust systems, custom silencers, filters and custom enclosures.
“Universal AET expands our industrial environmental portfolio into noise abatement, introduces us to new end markets and customers, and gives us another avenue to serve natural gas power generation customers,” said B&W Chairman and Chief Executive Officer E. James Ferland. “This acquisition aligns with our strategy to grow our industrial market exposure and continue to increase our non-coal revenue base.”
