Altronic has introduced a new electronic speed governor. The GOV+ Electronic Speed Governor is a module in the company’s PLC+ product line that provides closed loop speed control of an engine by controlling an actuator.
“This is the latest member of Altronic’s PLC+ family of modules specifically, although not exclusively, designed to operate in conjunction with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controls) and HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces). These modules provide the same or better functionality as their non-PLC counterparts, ” said David Bell, Senior Vice President, Aftermarket Sales and Service at Altronic. Headquartered in Girard, Ohio, USA, Altronic LLC, is a member of the Hoerbiger Group, headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, and manufactures ignition and control systems for industrial engines.
The GOV+ can communicate to PLCs to monitor and control processes via Ethernet/IP or Modbus/TCP. The speed input pulse can come from magnetic, Hall-effect, or other types of active pickups. A configurable 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V analog output signal can be used to control an actuator position to control the speed. The desired run speed setpoint can be set by an internal configurable rpm value or adjusted by a 4 to 20 mA input signal or a potentiometer.
