Universal Plant Services (UPS) has acquired the Engine Services business unit of NRG, an integrated power company in the US. Universal Plant Services, a Jones Industrial Holdings company, provides project management, installation, and maintenance and repair services for rotating, fixed, and reciprocating equipment. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA, UPS employs 2500 individuals at 14 full-service facilities and specializes in daily maintenance, turnarounds, and capital projects.
The move strengthens the portfolio of UPS Midstream Services, expanding its expertise across all equipment manufacturers and increases the inventory of the UPS Parts division. The acquisition includes two locations, one in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA, and another in and Scott, Louisiana, USA.
“UPS is honored to add this extraordinary team and their expertise, processes and infrastructure to our organization,” said Co-Chief Executive Officer of Jones Industrial Holdings, Bradley Jones. “Strategically growing upon the strength of our existing midstream services and assets will equip us with the footprint and bandwidth to best serve our clients across the United States.”
“NRG Energy Services is pleased that Universal Plant Services will continue to meet the needs of the customers of the Engine Services business,” said Jim Locher, President, NRG Energy Services. “While NRG Energy Services’ business focus has gravitated more towards the operation, maintenance and repair of large power generation facilities, we continue to be focused on meeting all our customers’ expectations and through UPS, a company dedicated to the repair of reciprocating engines, we are confident our customers will receive outstanding support for all their engine service needs.”
