Wood Group has been awarded a new contract by Maersk to deliver mechanical and management services for the hook-up and commissioning of the Culzean gas condensate field in the UK Central North Sea.
At peak manning, approximately 200 new jobs will be created by the project to support the new three-platform, high-pressure, high-temperature development, which is expected to begin production in 2019. The three-year contract is effective immediately.
Discovered in 2008 by Maersk Oil, the Culzean gas condensate field has resources estimated at 250 to 300 million barrels of oil equivalent. Production is expected to start in 2019 and continue for at least 13 years, with plateau production of 60,000 to 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The Culzean field is expected to produce enough gas to meet 5% of total UK demand at peak production in 2020/21.
