The board of directors at Burckhardt Compression will nominate Ton Büchner for election as board chair at the company’s annual meeting in July. Valentin Vogt, the board’s current chair, will not stand for re-election. Vogt will continue to coordinate the group of shareholders comprised of former members of the management buyout team and will remain engaged in Burckhardt Compression as one of its major shareholders.
Büchner served as CEO and chair of the board of management of AkzoNobel, a Dutch multinational company, from 2012 to 2017. Prior to joining AkzoNobel, he worked for Sulzer for 18 years, ultimately serving as the company’s CEO from 2007 to 2011. He has been a member of the board of directors of Novartis, a Switzerland based healthcare company, since 2016 and a member of the shareholders’ committee of Voith (Germany) since 2014.
Büchner holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from IMD Business School in Lausanne.
