Columbia Gulf Transmission LLC (Columbia Gulf), a wholly owned subsidiary of TC Energy Corp. (TC Energy), is seeking approval from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct, operate, and maintain the East Lateral Xpress project. The project includes the construction of two new compressor stations, a new meter station, approximately 8 miles (12.8 km) of new 30-in. (762-mm) natural gas pipeline lateral, two new mainline valves, a tie-in facility, launcher and receiver facilities, and other auxiliary appurtenant facilities all located in St. Mary, Lafourche, Jefferson, and Plaquemines parishes, in Louisiana, USA.

The purpose of the project is to provide 725,000 dekatherms per day of firm transportation capacity through a combination of incremental and existing capacity on Columbia Gulf’s interstate natural gas pipeline system primarily from its Gulf Onshore Pool for delivery to the Gator Express Pipeline at a proposed new delivery point on Columbia Gulf’s system in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, to supply feed gas for Venture Global LNG’s Plaquemines liquefied natural gas facility in Plaquemines Parish.

Centerville Compressor Station

Columbia Gulf proposes to construct the Centerville Compressor Station in St. Mary Parish. A 23,470 hp ((17,508 kW) Solar Turbine Titan 130 gas-fired turbine compressor unit will be used to compress gas from west to east on Columbia Gulf’s existing EL-200 and EL-300 pipelines and flow gas into the existing EL-100 pipeline. In addition to the compressor unit, the station will include a motor control center modular building, filter separators, gas coolers, valves, condensate and utility air tanks, utility and fuel gas skids, unit and station blowdown silencers, and other ancillary equipment necessary to run the station. The Solar Titan 130 unit will be packaged in an acoustically insulated enclosure supplied by the original equipment manufacturer.

Golden Meadow Compressor Station

Columbia Gulf proposes to construct the Golden Meadow Compressor Station, in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. A 23,470 hp Solar Turbine Titan 130 gas-fired turbine compressor unit will be used to compress gas west to east on Columbia Gulf’s existing EL-300 pipeline. The station will include a motor control center modular building, an operations office building, a warehouse building, filter separators, gas coolers, valves, condensate and utility air tanks, unit and station blowdown silencers, and other ancillary equipment necessary to run the station.

New cathodic protection equipment will be installed at the Golden Meadow Compressor Station and balanced with the existing cathodic protection system, as necessary, after equipment is installed as part of the project.
