Petrobras has signed a deal to sell its stake in the onshore Polo Carmópolis area (the Carmópolis Cluster) to Carmo Energy S.A. The sale price of US$ 1.1 billion includes a US$275 million down payment, US$550 million at the closing of the transaction, and US$275 million 12 months after the closing.
The Carmópolis Cluster comprises 11 onshore production concessions, located in different municipalities in the state of Sergipe, Brazil, in addition to including access to oil and natural gas processing, flow, storage, and transportation infrastructure. The Atalaia Cluster, which contains, among other assets, the Aracaju Waterway Terminal (Tecarmo) and the Bonsucesso-Atalaia Oil Pipeline, which flows the oil production from the concessions to Tecarmo, are also part of the Carmópolis Cluster.
Petrobras is increasingly concentrating its resources on deep and ultra-deep water assets and is divesting accordingly. Also in December, Petrobras concluded the sale of its total stake in 12 onshore exploration and production fields (the Remanso Cluster) to PetroRecôncavo S.A.
The Remanso Cluster comprises the onshore fields of Brejinho, Canabrava, Cassarongongo, Fazenda Belém, Gomo, Mata de São João, Norte Fazenda Caruaçu, Remanso, Rio dos Ovos, Rio Subaúma, São Pedro, and Sesmaria, located in the state of Bahia, Brazil.
