The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued a favorable final environmental impact statement for the Clear Creek Expansion Project, allowing the Spire Storage West LLC (Spire) project to move forward.
Located Uinta County, Wyoming, the Clear Creek Expansion Project is designed to increase compression at the Clear Creek Plant from 3740 hp (2790 kw) to 24,340 hp 18,157 kW); and to increase the working gas and base gas capacity of the Clear Creek Storage Field from 4 to 20 Bcf (116 x 106 m3 to 556 x 106 m3). The project would also increase the injection and withdrawal capacities at the Clear Creek Storage Field from 35 MMcf/day (991 x 103 m3/d) and 50 MMcf/day (1.4 x 106 m3/d) respectively, to 350 MMcf/day (9.9 x 106 m3/d) and 500 MMcf/day (14.1 x 106 m3/d), respectively.
Spire will add four Caterpillar G3616 compressor units rated 5301 hp (3954 kW) each at its Clear Creek Plant. The plant currently utilizes two Caterpillar G3608 compressors that are rated 1936 hp (1444 kW) each.
In addition, Spire will construct one produced water injection system with buildings and appurtenances, one withdrawal dehydration system with buildings and appurtenances, and piping and conduit extensions at the existing Clear Creek Plant Site.
