Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company (Tennessee) is seeking Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval to install one new 5000-hp (3730-kW) Caterpillar 3616 reciprocating compressor package and associated piping, valves, and ancillary equipment at its existing Compressor Station 409 located in Hidalgo County, Texas, as part of its Compressor Station 409 project. The purpose of the project is to increase the north to south firm transportation capacity on Tennessee’s system by 69,500 Dth/d. The project will enable Tennessee to offer an additional 7500 Dth/d of unsubscribed incremental firm capacity between Agua Dulce, Texas, and the Mexico border.
The new Caterpillar reciprocating compressor package will operate alongside two existing 4735-hp (3532-kW) Caterpillar G3616 4SLB packages already operating at Compressor Station 409. In addition to the new compression, Tennessee also proposes to install an emergency generator with a lube oil tank, gas cooler, and jacket water coolers to replace the existing fuel gas skid and to modify the existing emergency shutdown system and station blowdown piping. Additionally, Tennessee proposes to replace 96 compressor valves and volume pockets on the existing two compressor units at Compressor Station 409.
