Southern Pines utilizes six Ariel KBU gas compressor packages.

Williams has acquired natural gas storage assets from an affiliate of Hartree Partners LP for US$1.95 billion. The transaction includes six underground natural gas storage facilities located in Louisiana and Mississippi with total capacity of 115 Bcf (3.2 x 109 m3), as well as 230 miles (370 km) of gas transmission pipeline and 30 pipeline interconnects to LNG markets and connections to Transco, the nation’s largest natural gas transmission pipeline.

The six natural gas storage facilities include four salt domes with combined capacity of 92 Bcf (2.6 x 109 m3) and two depleted reservoirs with combined capacity of 23 Bcf (652.2 x 106 m3). The facilities have an injection capacity of 5 Bcf/d (141.5 x 106 m3/d) and withdrawal capacity of 7.9 Bcf/d (223.7 x 106 m3/d). Two of the facilities, Pine Prairie and Southern Pines, are directly connected with Transco and are well positioned for expansions.

Southern Pines utilizes six Ariel KBU gas compressor packages, giving the station a capacity of 36,600 bkW.

The transaction is expected to close in January 2024, following satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including the expiration or termination of any applicable waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976.
