Australian Gas Infrastructure Group, an Australia infrastructure business, broke ground on what will be the nation’s largest renewable hydrogen plant when completed in 2025. The Hydrogen Park Murray Valley (HPMV) project will produce 500 tonnes of hydrogen annually using a 10-MW electrolyzer. The electrolyzer will have eight times the capacity of the largest electrolyzer currently operating in Australia. The plan calls for renewable hydrogen produced at HPMV to be injected into the local gas network at blends of up to 10%.

Located on Australia’s New South Wales/Victoria border, the HPMV project will deliver renewable hydrogen to over 40,000 residential and industrial customers in the Albury-Wodonga region.

The HPMV project is an initiative of the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group. The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has committed $36.1 million in funding for the project. The Victorian Government is contributing $12.3 million. Additional financing of $3.22 million has been provided by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, an Australian Government-owned green bank that invests in clean energy to help achieve Australia’s national goal of net zero emissions by 2050.

Australian Gas Infrastructure Group owns and operates distribution, transmission, and storage assets throughout the country – with over 21,700 miles (35,000 km) of distribution networks, more than 2600 (4300 km) of transmission pipelines and 60 petajoules of storage capacity.
