Atlas Copco has opened a new 269,098 sqft (25,000 m2) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Pune, India. Initially announced in August 2023, Atlas Copco’s new facility represents an investment of around US$17 million.
The site will manufacture air and gas compressor systems for local and international markets. These include compressed natural gas, biogas, and hydrogen compressors. It will also produce air dryers, N2 and O2 generators, and medical filters.
According to Atlas Copco, the new plant prioritizes sustainability. Roughly 80% of the plant’s energy requirements come from rooftop solar panels and 75% of the water consumed is delivered from rainwater harvesting.
Philippe Ernens, president of the compressor technique business area, emphasized the facility’s advanced technology, which will boost local supply, shorten lead times, and expand capacity. “This enables us to offer a wider range of products, meet market expectations, and provide better lifecycle support,” he said.
“We invest further in capacity in India to cater to the growing demand of the Indian and export markets,” said Vagner Rego, business area president, compressor technique, at Atlas Copco. “This expansion project is part of our strategy to remain first in mind, first in choice for our customers. It will enable us to reach new customers and markets and improve lead times.”
