Rockwell Automation Inc. (Rockwell) has been selected by Utility Global to provide the control and automation platform for its proprietary H2Gen systems featuring patented zero-electricity hydrogen production technology.
Utility Global has systems designed for modular construction, customized performance, and integration into existing assets and infrastructure for hard-to-abate industries such as steel, mobility, upstream oil and gas, refining, and chemicals. The company’s H2Gen technology harnesses energy from dilute, low-value industrial off-gases and various biogases to produce high-purity, low-to-negative carbon intensity hydrogen from water without electricity from the company’s proprietary electrochemical process. According to Utility Global, H2Gen systems have been proven to provide the utmost operationally flexible and integrate seamlessly into existing infrastructure, enabling practical, cost-effective decarbonization.

To support this objective, Utility Global selected Rockwell’s PlantPAx Distributed Control System along with a suite of software and hardware including FactoryTalk View, FactoryTalk AssetCentre, FactoryTalk Historian, and Logix Process Controllers. According to Rockwell Automation, this suite was selected for its ability to scale from small to large commercial deployments without requiring a shift in control architecture.
