Exline has acquired the ProBalance, ProBalance Plus Engine Balance Monitor, and Snapshot Engine Balancer product lines and associated trademarks from Machinery Monitoring Systems (MMS) of Knoxville, Tennessee. The acquisition expands Exline’s reach into the midstream and downstream oil and gas industries while strengthening its position in reciprocating natural gas engines and compressors. The deal is a natural progression from a 2022 agreement between the companies that named Exline as the exclusive technical field support, midstream distribution, and installation of MMS product lines in the continental United States.
“Marketplace interest and on-unit application of this technology made the products an attractive fit to our strategic direction,” said Will Exline, president and chief executive officer at Exline, based in Salina, Kansas. “This aligns with our vision to deliver innovative solutions and services for rotating equipment.”
Balanced Combustion
“This suite of products [ProBalance, ProBalance Plus Engine Balance Monitor, and Snapshot Engine Balancer] aid in maintaining balanced combustion in a two/four-stroke natural gas engine which is crucial for maximizing its performance, minimizing environmental impact, and ensuring the engine’s long-term health,” said Bret Hightower, chief commercial officer at Exline.
Maintaining balanced combustion in a two/four-stroke natural gas engine involves controlling the process of burning the fuel and air mixture within the engine cylinder. When done correctly, the engine can achieve ideal conditions for efficient operation and optimal performance.
Optimizing combustion ensures that the maximum possible amount of energy is extracted from the fuel during the combustion stroke, which leads to higher power output and better fuel efficiency, as less energy is wasted through incomplete burning.
Achieving balanced combustion has environmental, durability, and longevity benefits. Balanced combustion minimizes the release of unburnt or partially burnt hydrocarbons into the atmosphere, thereby lowering emissions. Proper combustion prevents excessive wear and tear on critical engine components, such as pistons and cylinder heads. This process lowers the risk of … CLICK HERE to continue reading this article in the March 2026 issue.
