Executive Outlook: Baker Hughes

Gas Compression Magazine sat down with Lorenzo Simonelli, chief executive officer and chair of Baker Hughes, to discuss rewriting the global energy equation to balance sustainability, affordability, and energy security. Simonelli emphasized that natural gas and liquefied natural gas have evolved from mere transition options into critical, permanent destination fuels required to satisfy skyrocketing global power demand.

Driven by the massive infrastructure needs of population growth, industrial production, and the artificial intelligence (AI) data center boom, Baker Hughes reported record-breaking orders of US$29.6 billion for the year. To meet this surge, the company is actively deploying AI-led optimization software, expanding its cryogenic and compression portfolios, and investing heavily in 24/7 geothermal and clean energy storage partnerships. Going forward, Baker Hughes forecasts robust demand for its industrial and energy technology segments.
