Gulf South Pipeline Company LLC (Gulf South) is requesting authorization for its Texas Gateway Project. The project will create a new transportation link to allow access to natural gas supplies from multiple production areas accessible from Gulf South’s existing system, including the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Shale, Scoop/Stack Shales, and Haynesville Shale, and transport those supplies to the Gillis Hub area in southwest Louisiana.
The project consists of a new pipeline (Texas Gateway Pipeline) and as well as legacy system upgrades.
The proposed Texas Gateway Pipeline consist of 155 miles (249-km) of 36-inch (91-cm) and 42-inch (106-cm) diameter greenfield pipeline located in Panola, Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Jasper, and Newton counties in Texas, and Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, extending from the discharge of Gulf South’s existing Carthage Compressor Station in Panola County to the new Gillis Delivery Points in Beauregard Parish.
Two new Solar Titan 130 compressor units, for a total of 39,260 hp (29,287 kW) hp, will be added at the existing Carthage Compressor Station, including a new bi-directional check meter station at the northern terminus of the proposed Texas Gateway Pipeline. The new pipeline also calls for two new compressors at the Magasco Compressor Station in Sabine County, Texas – one new Solar Titan 250 compressor unit and one new Solar Titan 130 compressor unit, for a total of 44,961 hp (33,540 kW).
The proposed legacy system upgrade facilities consist of a new compressor station, the Cleveland Compressor Station, located in San Jacinto County, Texas. The compressor station will utilize one new Solar Mars 100 unit for a total of 13,410 hp (10,003 kW).
The proposed Texas Gateway Pipeline portion of the project will create approximately 1,200,000 dekatherms per day of new pipeline capacity between the existing Carthage Compressor Station and the Gillis Delivery Points.
The legacy system upgrade portion of the project will enable Gulf South to use the Index 129 pipeline’s existing capacity to ensure up to 600,000 dekatherms per day of firm transportation volumes in a reverse-flow (south-to-north) direction on the Index 129 pipeline, for a total of 1,800,000 dekatherms to the Gillis Hub.
