Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company (TGP) is requesting FERC approval for its South Texas Enhancement Project. The project consists of the construction of the STEP Loop, a new 1.54 mile (2.4 km), 30-inch (76-cm) diameter pipeline loop; a skid mounted overpressure protection facility to tie the proposed STEP Loop into TGP’s existing system; modifications to three existing meter stations in Nueces County, Texas; and the construction of a new compressor station in Brooks County, Texas.
TGP proposes to construct a new compressor station near Falfurrias, Texas, consisting of a single 15,900 hp (11,861 kW) Solar Mars 100 centrifugal compressor unit.
The US$92 million project will extend existing shippers’ transportation paths to other pipeline interconnection points, providing additional supplies for South Texas and Mexico markets. The project will allow TGP to deliver up to 319,000 dekatherms per day of additional system capacity from new primary receipt points near Agua Dulce to serve growing commercial gas demand at existing delivery points at the Mexico border.
Pending all additional permits and approvals, the project is expected to be placed in service in the second quarter of 2028.
