The industrial engine and compression aftermarket sector took another step toward consolidation in July 2026 when Cooper Machinery Services (Cooper) announced the acquisition of substantially all assets of Wesco Valve & Manufacturing Co. (Wesco) and the product lines of Safety Seal Piston Ring Co. (Safety Seal). The transaction strengthens Cooper’s position as a supplier of mission-critical components for reciprocating engines and compressors while adding two long-established brands with deep roots in the natural gas compression industry.
Headquartered in Marshall, Texas, Wesco and Safety Seal have operated as complementary businesses serving many of the same customers in the oil and gas, compression, marine, locomotive, and industrial engine markets. Through their shared SS Wesco identity, the companies have become recognized suppliers of replacement and original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-grade components for large-bore engines and compressors used throughout the energy sector.
Wesco was founded in 1951 and has built its reputation as a precision manufacturer of industrial engine valves and related valve-train components. The company produces engine valves, power valves, rocker arms, fuel injection components, hydraulic lifters, and other specialized parts. Its manufacturing expertise centers on advanced machining processes and the use of heat-resistant materials capable of withstanding the extreme temperatures and pressures.
Safety Seal complements Wesco’s product offering by specializing in piston rings and sealing technology. The business manufactures power piston rings, compressor rings, replacement ring sets, and custom-engineered ring packages for a wide range of industrial engines and compressors.
The two companies are headquartered in Marshall, Texas, and supply customers throughout the United States and internationally.
For Cooper, the acquisition represents a strategic expansion of its aftermarket component offering. The transaction brings together Cooper’s existing portfolio of engine-compressor brands with Wesco’s valve manufacturing expertise and Safety Seal’s sealing technologies.

Cooper is the OEM and supplier of parts and after-sale services, and emissions reduction technologies to a large installed base of engine-compressor brands. The company’s OEM brands include AJAX, Cooper-Bessemer, CSI, Enterprise, Gemini, Superior, TSI, and TXC. Cooper is also a supplier of after-sale support for non-Cooper engine-compressor brands such as Caterpillar G3600, Clark, Ingersoll Rand, Waukesha VHP, and Worthington. Manufacturing is conducted in Houston, Texas; Salina, Kansas; and McPherson, Kansas; while on-site services are delivered through its network of field technicians operating out of fully equipped repair and overhaul shops strategically located around the world.
