Texas Gas Transmission LLC (Texas Gas) and Gulf South Pipeline Company LLC (Gulf South) are seeking Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval to undertake the requested activities that comprise the Eunice Reliability and Lake Charles Supply project. The project consists of the replacement of soon-to-be-obsolete compressor units and the installation of additional compressor units at Texas Gas’ existing Eunice Compressor Station in Acadia Parish, Louisiana. The purpose of the project is to increase the reliability of Texas Gas’ system, decrease air emissions and noise, and create 120,000 Dth/d of new transportation capacity on Texas Gas’ system into the Lake Charles, Louisiana, area. The project would result in a net reduction of NOX by 98%, carbon monoxide by 92%, volatile organic compounds by 85%, hazardous air pollutants by 91%, and particulate matter by 47% at the Eunice Compressor Station.
Texas Gas plans to replace the four existing 1100-hp (821-kW) reciprocating units and one existing 2250-hp (1679-kW) reciprocating unit at its Eunice Compressor Station with a new 8968-hp (6690-kW) Solar Taurus 70 turbine unit and a new 6391-hp (4768-kW) Solar Taurus 60 turbine unit, along with the installation of gas cooling, suction, and discharge piping. Texas Gas also plans to install over-pressure protection and associated piping at its existing Woodlawn Junction located in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana. The overall site-rated horsepower at the Eunice Compressor Station would increase to 15,359 hp (11,458 kW).
