Columbia Gas Transmission LLC (Columbia Gas) is seeking US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorization to construct and operate a new booster compressor station and appurtenant facilities in Ottawa County, Ohio. The US$16 million D74 Booster Compressor Project will allow Columbia Gas to increase the delivery capacity on Line D74 and connecting pipelines by 10,843 Dth/d. According to Columbia Gas, the booster station will not provide mainline compression and it will not impact Columbia Gas’ overall mainline capacity. The additional compression is necessary to align its pipeline system with evolving customer demands.
The new booster station will include a Caterpillar G3512JLE/Ariel KBT-4 compressor package rated at 1035 hp (772 kW), a filter separator, and auxiliary systems. Columbia Gas will install a double stopple bypass on the existing D74 pipeline, and 10-inch (254-mm) suction and 10-inch discharge piping connecting the existing D74 pipeline and the proposed booster compression station.
