Burckhardt Goes All In On Shenyang Yuanda Compressor

Burckhardt Compression (Burckhardt) has announced plans to acquire the remaining 40% stake in Shenyang Yuanda Compressor (SYC). Burckhardt initially purchased 60% of SYC, a compressor manufacturer based in Shenyang, China, in March 2016.

In the years since Burckhardt acquired its initial interest, SYC has expanded into more segments of the market, its product portfolio has been broadened to address a wider range of market needs, and Burckhardt has gained direct access to a well-established local supply chain. In addition, compressors manufactured by SYC have been available in selected export markets through Burckhardt’s sales and distribution channels since 2019.

Continued growth is on the horizon for SYC. A new 1.6 million square foot (153,000 m2) plant is expected to be commissioned in Shenyang by the end of September 2020. The plant will feature a production area of 925,000 sq.ft. (86,000 m2). The new plant replaces two previous SYC sites which were engulfed by Shenyang’s rapid urban growth and are now located in the middle of the city. The land of the current sites will be handed back to the government. Operations at the former two locations are being combined at the new plant.
