Solar Turbines For Venice Extension Project

Texas Eastern Transmission (Texas Eastern) is seeking Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval to construct, install, own, operate, and maintain facilities as part of its proposed Venice Extension project. Specifically, Texas Eastern plans to construct an approximately 3-mile (4.8-km), 36-in. (0.9-m) pipeline segment for its Line 40; abandon in place a 2.2-mile (3.5-km), 36-in. existing pipeline segment on Line 40; construct a new compressor station (CS) and metering and regulating facilities in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana; abandon in place the existing, inactive compressor unit at the compressor station in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, and the existing, inactive compressor unit at the compressor station in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana; install one new compressor unit and related appurtenances at each compressor station in Iberville Parish and Lafourche Parish; and upgrade a metering and regulating facility on a platform in Plaquemines Parish. The purpose of this project is to reverse natural gas flow on a portion of Texas Eastern’s Line 40 to provide firm natural gas transportation service for up to 1,260,000 Dth/d to Venture Global Plaquemines Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal, which is currently under development in Plaquemines Parish.

New Roads Compressor Station:

The Venice Extension project includes the construction of a new compressor station located in Pointe Coupee Parish. The New Roads CS will include one 31,900-hp (23,797-kW) Solar Titan T250 gas-driven compressor, one 1125-hp (839-kW) natural gas-fired emergency generator, one fuel gas heater, one 2500-gallon (9463-litre) condensate tank, launcher/receiver facilities, and related appurtenant facilities.

White Castle and Larose Compressor Stations:

The project also includes modifications at two existing compressor stations in Iberville and Lafourche Parishes, White Castle CS and Larose CS, respectively. Texas Eastern will abandon in place the existing compressor unit at each station and replace the abandoned unit at each site with a single gas turbine-driven compressor unit. The proposed modifications at White Castle and Larose compressor stations will each include the addition of one 31,900-hp Solar Titan T250 gas-driven compressor (replacing an existing unit), one 1125-hp natural gas-fired emergency generator (replacing an existing unit); one fuel gas heater, and related appurtenant facilities.
