Derrick York has been named president of Solar Turbines, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, and senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc. Prior to this role, York served as general manager of Caterpillar Marine. He gained broad Caterpillar exposure across various business units as group chief financial officer within the Services, Distribution, and Digital segment. In addition, he was the director of corporate development, leading the Caterpillar mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy team. Before joining Caterpillar in 2010, York held progressive commercial and service-related leadership roles in private equity, investment banking, and public accounting at Macquarie Capital’s Principal Transactions Group, Giuliani Capital Advisors, and KPMG. In 2022, the Caterpillar board of directors appointed York senior vice president of Caterpillar Oil, Gas & Marine division. York has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s in business administration from Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management.
