Northern Natural Gas Co. (Northern) is seeking US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorization to install and operate a new compressor station in Andrews County, Texas. The proposed Tarzan compressor station will consist of one new 11,152-hp (8319-kW) Solar Tarus gas turbine compressor unit. The proposed station also includes a station suction scrubber, a station recycle control valve, a lube-oil cooler, a discharge gas cooler, a blowdown silencer, a unit inlet air filter and exhaust system, a backup generator, a fuel gas heating skid, a fire/gas detection system, an air compressor and dryer system, and associated piping, valves, and instrumentation.
The US$36.1 million project will provide new transportation capacity in the growing Permian Basin to access markets on Northern’s system that cannot be met by Northern’s existing infrastructure. According to Northern, the new compressor station will increase peak-day entitlement by 87,000 Dth/day.
