RIX Debuts New Development Center

Computer numerical control machining supports in-house prototyping and the production of tight-tolerance components for development testing.

RIX Industries has expanded its engineering and research and development capabilities with the opening of the Otterson Center of Excellence for Advanced Development. Located near the company’s Benicia, California, headquarters, this new facility replaces the former development site, enabling closer collaboration among engineering teams and improved access to shared resources.

“We needed a larger space, one that was specifically meant for advanced development work. A place where our engineers would be empowered to design and build the next iteration of RIX products to meet the needs of our growing customer base,” said Anil Raina, chief technology officer at RIX. “As we see more integration between mechanical systems, controls, electronics, and software, the ability to build, test, learn, and iterate without unnecessary friction has become crucial.”

At 14,000 sq.ft., the new facility is nearly three times the size of its previous space. That additional square footage allows flexibility to support larger builds, run specialized equipment, and have multiple development programs running in parallel.

“RIX’s mantra is ‘focused on the future,’ and this is a testament to that claim. The new facility will enable us to own and evolve our core technologies in ways that directly benefit customers,” said Raina. “By investing in hands-on, practical development, our customers can be confident that RIX products will perform under real operating conditions. Whether we’re improving existing compressor platforms or developing new digitally driven control architectures, RIX’s Center of Excellence gives us the space and tools to reduce risk early and deliver solutions we’re confident in when they reach production.”

Designed primarily for prototyping, testing, and iterative engineering, the Center of Excellence will support … CLICK HERE to continue reading this article in the March 2026 issue.
