Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America LLC (Natural) is requesting authorization to construct, operate, and maintain the North Extension Project. The project includes the installation of new compression facilities at two existing compressor stations on Natural’s Gulf Coast Mainline system in Livingston and Will Counties, Illinois; construction of a new compressor station in Lake County, Illinois; installation of an 11.5-mile (18.5-km) pipeline lateral; construction of a new meter station at the terminus of the lateral; and associated appurtenant and auxiliary facilities.
The North Extension Project will enable Natural to provide up to 185,000 dekatherms per day of incremental firm northbound transportation service to Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WEPCO). The service will transport natural gas from the northern end of Natural’s interstate pipeline system in northeastern Illinois to southern Wisconsin. WEPCO has executed a binding precedent agreement with Natural for long-term incremental firm transportation service for the full project capacity.
As part of the project, Natural will install additional compression at existing Compressor Station 312 (CS 312) in Livingston County and Compressor Station 113 (CS 113) in Will County. Natural will also construct a new greenfield compressor station, Compressor Station 119 (CS 119), in Lake County, along with the new lateral pipeline and meter station.
At CS 312, Natural will install a 31,900-hp (23,797-kW) Solar Titan 250 compressor and re-wheel an existing compressor unit. These modifications will increase the station’s total installed horsepower to approximately 61,900 hp (46,177 kW).
At CS 113, Natural will install an 11,107-hp (8285-kW) Solar Taurus 70 compressor, increasing the station’s total installed horsepower to 24,157 hp (18,021 kW).
At CS 119, Natural will install a single Solar Taurus 70 compressor rated 11,107 hp.
