Double E Pipeline is seeking US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval for its Texas Mainline Compressor Station Project in Loving County, Texas. The project involves construction and operation of the Mainline Compressor Station (CS) and two new 42-inch (106-cm) diameter pipeline laterals connecting to company’s existing Double E Pipeline system, together with associated station piping, appurtenant facilities, and site access improvements.
The purpose of the project is to expand the Double E Pipeline system’s ability transport additional natural gas produced in the Delaware and Permian Basins to downstream markets. The project has binding agreements with project shippers, representing long-term firm transportation commitments for the project’s capacity. The project will create about 800,000 dekatherms per day of firm transportation capacity on Double E’s existing pipeline system.
The project is needed to address limited large-diameter gas gathering and transportation infrastructure in the Permian and Permian and Delaware Basins while supporting long-term market demand for Permian Basin natural gas. Demand continues to increase among natural gas producers, liquefied natural gas exporter facilities along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast, regional utilities, and the rapidly developing data centers and digital energy markets, all which require access to long-term natural gas supplies.
The project is designed to receive natural gas from the Summit Midstream Double E Pipeline, an Interstate Natural Gas Transmission pipeline network transporting natural gas from the Permian and Delaware Basins in New Mexico to the Waha Hub in Pecos County, Texas. Gas arrives at the station by the pipelines at approximately 850 to 900 psig (59 to 62 bar), where it is then compressed to 1315 to 1350 psig (91 to 93 bar) for discharge back into the Double E Pipeline via the pipelines.
Mainline CS will utilize two Baker Hughes PCL603 & PGT25+ turbomachinery packages, totaling a maximum of approximately 54,336 hp (40,534 kW) depending on ambient conditions.
