Argent LNG LCC (Argent LNG) has selected Baker Hughes as the liquefaction solution and related services provider for its proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Baker Hughes will supply liquefaction solutions, power generation equipment, and gas compression systems for the facility, which is set to deliver approximately 24 MTPA of LNG.
The project will incorporate Baker Hughes’ NMBL modularized LNG solution powered by an LM9000 gas turbine. The liquefaction modules will be fully constructed, tested, and commissioned at the Baker Hughes’ Avenza, Italy, facility before shipping to the project site. According to Baker Hughes, with a modular approach final installation is 15 to 20% faster than traditional stick-built projects and requires 60% less on-site personnel. These factors, along with simplified interconnections and civil works, dramatically reduce plant project costs. In addition, the pre-tested, modular approach minimizes site non-conformities, enables exact replication from one module to the next, and ensures a predictable schedule with minimized risk.
Each NMBL train includes a process module with air coolers, vessels, electrical control cabins, separators, and scrubbers; a mixed refrigerant compressor and driver; a surge vessel; and a cold box with brazed aluminum heat exchangers for or up to 2 MTPA of LNG production.
Baker Hughes will also provide power generation units driven by LM9000 gas turbines and provide multi-year services to support Argent LNG terminal operations.
Phase 1 construction is targeted to begin in 2026, with commercial operations expected by 2030. Phase 2, which aims to expand capacity, is advancing through critical milestones, including resource reporting, securing US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approvals, formalizing gas supply agreements, and achieving financial close.
