WEG celebrated the inauguration of its new plant in Rugao, China. With investments of more than US$120 million, Rugao is now WEG’s largest production plant in China.
The new plant is located in an area of technological and industrial development 40 miles from Nantong, where WEG established its first plant in China, and 110 miles from Shanghai.
The factory currently operates 375,000 sq.ft. of manufacturing space and employs 50 people. Based on the expandable design of the Rugao plant, by the year 2020, WEG expects to increase the manufacturing area to more than 950,000 sq.ft. and employ more than 3000 people at the plant.
WEG is among the world’s largest manufacturers of electric-electronic equipment, with five main product lines: Motors, Power, Transmission and Distribution, Automation, and Coatings. WEG has manufacturing units in 11 countries and is present in more than 100 countries, servicing all industrial segments, including oil and gas.
