Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company LLC (Transco) has requested US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorization to construct, install, modify, operate, and maintain the Gillis West Expansion Project. The US$28.70 million project will enable Transco to provide an incremental 115,000 dekatherms per day of firm transportation capacity from the existing Transco mainline in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana, to new delivery points located in Harris County, Texas. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with the project expected to enter service by November 1, 2026.
The project is designed specifically to meet CenterPoint’s long-term firm transportation requirements and to support continued growth in its residential, commercial, and industrial customer base in the greater Houston metropolitan area.
Facilities include:
Compressor Station 35: Transco will make modifications to its existing Station 35 to enable bi-directional flow on the existing Mainline A at milepost 327.28, including installation of two 30-in. (76.2-cm) valves, yard station piping, and appurtenant facilities in Harris County, Texas.
Hardy Meter Station: Transco will install one 6-in. (15.2-cm) tap assembly, one 3-in. (7.6-cm) ultrasonic meter and two 6-inch ultrasonic meters, isolation valves, electronic gas measurement (EGM) equipment, and other appurtenant facilities necessary to tie into CenterPoint’s system at milepost 334.84 on Transco’s existing Mainline A located in Harris County, Texas. The delivery point will have a maximum daily capacity of 45,000 dekatherms per day.
Hempstead Highway Meter Station: Transco will install two 10-in. (25.4-cm) tap assemblies, one 3-in. (7.6-cm) ultrasonic meter and two 6-in. (15.2-cm) ultrasonic meters, isolation valves, EGM equipment, and other appurtenant facilities necessary to tie into CenterPoint’s system at milepost 317.75 on Transco’s existing Mainlines A and B located in Harris County, Texas. The delivery point will have a maximum daily capacity of dekatherms per day.
Huffman Meter Station: Transco will install two 6-inch tap assemblies, one 2-in. (5.08-cm) ultrasonic meter and two 4-in. (10.1-cm) ultrasonic meters, isolation valves, EGM equipment, and other appurtenant facilities necessary to tie into CenterPoint’s system at approximately milepost 352.04 on Transco’s the existing Mainlines A and B located in Harris County, Texas. The delivery point will have a maximum daily capacity of 25,000 dekatherms per day.
Louisiana Southwest Valve Site: Transco will expand the existing Louisiana Southwest LW269 Valve Site for the installation of a 30-in. (76.2-cm) diameter mainline block valve, two 20-in.(50.8-cm) diameter crossover valves, and appurtenant facilities at milepost 474.04 to allow crossover between Transco’s existing Mainline A and Mainline B located at the border of Beauregard and Allen Parishes, Louisiana.
