Baker Hughes has secured a major equipment and services award from Cheniere Energy to support the expansion of the Sabine Pass LNG facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, including liquefaction equipment for Train 7, a boil-off gas (BOG) re-liquefaction unit, and a fleet-wide gas turbine upgrade program.

Under Phase 1 of the Sabine Pass expansion project, Baker Hughes will provide seven PGT25+ G4 aeroderivative gas turbines that will drive 15 centrifugal compressors for the new Train 7 liquefaction facility. The compression and turbine package is expected to support approximately 6 MTPA of additional LNG production capacity.

In addition, Baker Hughes will undertake a comprehensive modernization program across Sabine Pass’ existing fleet of installed PGT25+ G4 gas turbines. The upgrade initiative, scheduled to be completed over a four-year period, is designed to increase turbine power output and improve overall plant performance.

The turbine enhancements are expected to strengthen production efficiency across the facility’s current LNG capacity of approximately 30 MTPA, while creating additional capacity gains when combined with the new Train 7 development and the planned BOG re-liquefaction system.

Sabine Pass currently operates six liquefaction trains, multiple LNG storage tanks, and three marine loading berths. Earlier this year, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor Bechtel received a limited notice to proceed on Train 7, marking the transition of the project into the EPC phase. Full-scale construction activities are expected to begin in early 2027.
